Regina & Kelvin’s Downtown Raleigh Wedding at the Stockroom at 230

A Downtown Raleigh Wedding

I photographed so many beautiful weddings last month, but I have to say, Regina & Kelvin’s downtown Raleigh wedding at the Stockroom at 230 was probably my favorite! I’m still obsessing over it a month later! Their faith, fun personalities, and love for each other were apparent all evening long. Not to mention, their style and décor was on point! I had the privilege of meeting with the couple a few times before their wedding day, and it was clear that Regina put a lot of thought and heart into planning this day, and it turned out beautifully.

The best way to describe the wedding style was classic with a modern twist. Kelvin’s timeless black suit paired perfectly with Regina’s trumpet-style dress. Their color palette consisted primarily of neutrals, including white roses, greenery, and rosy-taupe bridesmaid dresses. I just can’t get over how elegant her details looked from the tablescapes to the flat lays!

Kelvin and Regina’s faith-centered ceremony had them both crying, which I’m pretty sure had half of their guests on the verge of tears as well. (I mean when the groom cries, who else stands a chance, really?) They stood hand-in-hand under a beautiful greenery arch, and shared their hand-written vows and communion. After a sweet kiss, they were officially married!

Wedding Portraits at the Glass Box

While the guests enjoyed cocktail hour at the City of Raleigh Museum, we went upstairs to the Glass Box for portraits. When you book the Stockroom at 230, typically the Glass Box comes with the rental. It’s primarily used as a getting ready space for the bride, but it also serves as a great spot for portraits. The deck outside of the Glass Box has to be one of my favorite places for bride and groom portraits in all of Downtown Raleigh! It’s incredibly private, and the downtown backdrop is such a cool location.

The morning had been rainy, but thankfully it cleared up by this point in the day. A few clouds lingered, which set the stage for perfect afternoon lighting. Many people don’t know this, but clouds are actually great for outdoor photography, especially if it’s not quite sunset. On a sunny day you can get harsh shadows around the face, but clouds make the lighting all nice and even.

A Reception to Remember

After portraits, we returned downstairs to the Stockroom for the reception. Now let me be clear, a timeless classy wedding doesn’t mean you can’t have some fun! The venue had undergone a transformation and was ready for a party! After dinner, Regina requested to open up the dance floor for one song even before the toasts! This crowd loved it. They danced the whole time (just stopping for the toasts of course). It was awesome! And Kelvin and Regina definitely brought their own fun personal touches into their day with a few surprises you’ll see as you look through the photos. Weddings like this are such a joy to be a part of. What an honor it was to photograph their day!
