Fall Wedding at JC Raulston Arboretum

At the end of October I had the joy of photographing Chandler and Tyler’s micro wedding at JC Raulston Arboretum. Chandler and Tyler are such a cool couple who just moved to Raleigh from Wisconsin this year. They wanted to celebrate their union with just their closest family and friends, most of whom flew down from Wisconsin just for the wedding! (Everyone was in for a surprise to find that it could be 81 degrees here in Raleigh at the end of October!) Despite the unusual heat, this JC Raulston wedding turned out beautifully. 

A Small, Intimate Wedding Day

Chandler and Tyler had what many in the industry call a “micro-wedding”. The couple only had about 30 guests, and they kept the day simple. After getting ready in separate locations, the couple met at JC Raulston their first look and moved immediately into the ceremony. They used the Finley-Nottingham Rose Garden at the back of the arboretum for their ceremony location. 

Following the ceremony, we took family and group portraits on the lawn, then moved into a time of bride and groom portraits for Chandler and Tyler. JC Raulston has so many gorgeous places for portraits! I’ve shared a few of my favorites with you here. While we took portraits, guests headed on to a predetermined local brewery for a “cocktail hour”. The newlyweds joined them for dinner at a nice restaurant after our portraits were done.

Micro Wedding Photography

While I often photograph the full day for micro weddings (meaning from getting ready through the reception) Chandler and Tyler opted for what I call my “Mini” package. They chose to just have the ceremony and portraits photographed. This is a great option for couples who want high quality professional photography, but are operating on a tight budget, or for couples who just want to keep things simple! 

At the moment of writing this article, I only offer this “Mini” micro wedding package on weekdays throughout the year, or on weekends booked less than four months in advance.
