If you’re considering getting married at The Upchurch, you’re probably drawn to classic architecture, bright indoor spaces, and the easy of have everything in one place. Located just 20 minutes from Raleigh, The venue blends a 1905 historic home with a modern indoor reception Conservatory, as well as a beautiful Magnolia lawn for outdoor ceremonies. These three cohesive spaces make The Upchurch one of the most versatile wedding venues in Cary, NC.
As a Raleigh wedding photographer who values timeless, bright, true-to-color images and candid moments, this venue is one I love recommending to couples who want elegance without feeling overly formal.
If you want your wedding photos to feel light, romantic, and natural, this venue makes that easy!

One of the biggest strengths of The Upchurch wedding venue is that it truly offers multiple spaces in one cohesive setting.

The Historic Main House gives you that Southern charm and feel without sacrificing convenience. Inside, you’ll find:
From a photography perspective, this is a dream. The porch provides soft, even light for detail shots and getting-ready moments, including first looks!

Between the Main House and the Conservatory sits the Magnolia Lawn, a 2,000 square foot circular lawn that can seat up to 225 guests. It works beautifully for:
The lawn offers clean sightlines and plenty of room for guests seating while still feeling intimate.

The Conservatory is a modern 4,200 square foot indoor event space perfect for receptions or indoor ceremonies. It features:
It’s bright, open, and incredibly versatile for ceremony flips or reception layouts. Natural light pours in for most of the day, which keeps indoor ceremonies feeling airy rather than dark. This provides a great option for rainy days or seasons with extreme cold or heat.
One of the most practical benefits of The Upchurch is flexibility. You can plan for an outdoor ceremony on the Magnolia Lawn and move indoors to the Conservatory if the weather changes. Guests can be in the Main House for cocktail hour to keep dry while the Conservatory is flipped.
And because several portrait areas are covered (particularly the porch of the main house, or the side patio of the Conservatory), even a rainy wedding day still offers beautiful protected photo locations.

According to The Upchurch’s website at the time of this writing weekend rentals range from $5,500-$9,500 and Mondays-Thursdays $4,000-$5,000. For the most current pricing, I always recommend contacting the venue directly.
Rental includes use of the Main House, Magnolia Lawn, and Conservatory, access to the two dressing suites in the Main House, tables and chairs, ADA accessibility, a venue host for the day, a one hour rehearsal, in-house decor, and more.
Couples are required to use their in-house caterer, Rocky Top Catering and to choose from one of the planners for day-of event coordination or planning.

One of the reasons I love photographing weddings at the Upchurch is the variety portrait backdrops within a short walking distance! A few of my favorite spots include:
Because the property flows so well, you don’t lose valuable time traveling for photos.
