Winter Wedding at the Upchurch: Jordan & Kenric

A Cozy, Rainy Wedding Day in Cary, NC

This past winter, I had the joy of photographing Jordan and Kenric’s wedding at The Upchurch in Cary, NC. Rain was in the forecast, but these two embraced it wholeheartedly, and their day ended up being all the more memorable for it!

One of my favorite things about The Upchurch is its beautiful wraparound porch. Even on a rainy day, it’s the perfect spot for portraits and first looks. It gives couples that elegant, Southern charm without worrying about getting drenched. We made great use of it for Jordan father-daughter first look, and I love how sweet they turned out.

A Rainy Wedding Ceremony at the Upchurch

If you’re planning an outdoor wedding ceremony, you might be concerned about your rain backup. Thankfully the Upchurch has a beautiful interior space (the Conservatory) that works well for even large weddings. Now on this particular day, the couple felt really hopeful and decided to keep the ceremony outdoors…well, let’s just say everyone will always remember this wedding ceremony! Guests pulled out the umbrellas and bundled up. It was a reminder that the most special moments can be both messy and beautiful!

Personalized Details That Made This Wedding Unique

Jordan and Kenric’s reception was filled with little nods to their personalities and love story. One of my favorites? Coke floats! Inspired by their shared love of Cookout milkshakes, they served up this fun treat to guests, and it was a total hit.

I was also obsessed with the floral design! Fallon’s Flowers (who also did my own wedding, fun fact) brought beautiful pops of pinks and purples to brighten up the dreary day. Combined with the glow of the venue’s lighting and the warmth of the celebration, the whole evening felt intimate and inviting.

If you’re planning your own Upchurch wedding, don’t be afraid to embrace whatever the weather brings. Between the charming porch, versatile indoor spaces, and stunning grounds, The Upchurch is a venue that shines in every season—rain or shine.

Hope you enjoy these photos from Jordan and Kenric’s winter wedding!
